Each of us is searching for himself. Always – all one’s life. This search acquires unordinary efforts. It is far from that everyone gets the results.

Sometimes, following the search, we come to miraculous places. It is Ancient Greece which became such place for the participant of the project. Suddenly it turned out that many people for whom the issues of history are beyond their interests see a hidden sense of their being in Antiquity.

Each of us, in his own way, people of different generations, occupations, nations, we who did not suggest each other’s being, came to Ancient Hellas. When we met we felt amazed but we understood soon: that land was the beginning of Europe, and that time was the beginning of us. And where should we search for ourselves if not in the beginning of the origins?

In spite of all the differences we are much alike. This idea is not so original by itself. The problem is different: rational knowledge is not personal experience which forms us. A sense must be gotten which is to become the essential part of oneself. Moreover, only when one gets to know others he is apt to know himself. Because these others are ourselves. And the ancient Greeks became for us such others.

By force of some historical circumstances, both St. Petersburg, and Athens may be equally named the place of this project’s start. Such ambivalence is rather symbolic, but at the same time comparative. Saint-Petersburg which the Greeks prefer to call Petropolis is Northern Athens. More accurately, Northern Athena, since the city is the deity herself embodied in its citizens.

Even not suggesting that, we who live on both sides of the Neva thanks to our wise ancestors are full of Hellas’ culture. And it may be easier for us to understand that culture today and tell about that wonderful land people who live now on the banks of the Illisos...

So, let us start for the miraculous land where the heroes and deities live whom we have known so well from our childhood. Though we have never even thought that there were people there, ordinary people, resembling us and able to tell so many things about us...

To get over the inertness, which there is nowadays and weighs upon our physical and spiritual life of each of us we decided to put the results of our efforts in different fields of arts together uniting them without any professional hierarchy’s claims, i. e. to do it the way it used to be in Ancient Hellas. In that time the artist was the craftsman who dealt with the «techne», while the «art» was the practical knowledge of the magical secrets of the skill. Man was an output of such a process when he reached some new level of his development and got a new integrity.

Holding the actions, differing from each other in genres, simultaneously enables creating and feeling the atmosphere and seeing in the given material an unbreakable link which belong to the culture of Ancient Greece. The usual aggiornamento towards Ancient Greece now will give place to logical and active self-consciousness. As the result of such «escape» will be the aptness to understand the man of another epoch and his activities’ outputs. And through that we will be able to understand ourselves.
